Lumen Symphonicum Cinematic Art Choir

Cinematic Art Choir – formed in 2015 – is directed by David De Geest and consists of a group trained singers, studying in Brussels as (former) students from David’s choral classes. They practiced singing and/or voice training and studied instrumental classes. Cinematic Art Choir is specialized in film music and live film concerts.

In 2015, the choir was selected to perform ‘Titanic Live’ in Rockhal Luxembourg and Lanxess Arena Cologne, conducted by Justin Freer. In 2016 and 2017, Cinematic Art Choir worked together with Hans Zimmer for his two European live tours, with concerts in Palais 12 Brussels, Sportpaleis Antwerp, Arena Geneva, Rockhal Luxembourg, Ahoy Rotterdam and Ziggo Dome Amsterdam. Cinematic Art Choir performed all major Zimmer scores as there were: a.o. Angels & Demons, Crimson Tide, The Da Vinci Code, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Gladiator, Interstellar, The Lion King, Men of Steel and Pirates of the Caribbean.

In 2017, Cinematic Art Choir worked together with James Newton Howard for his ‘3 Decades of Music for Hollywood’ European tour. Concerts were held in Amsterdam (Concertgebouw Amsterdam), Paris (Salle Pleyel) and Antwerp (Queen Elisabeth Hall). The program included a fine selection of James Newton Howard’s scores: Blood Diamond, Dinosaur, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Hunger Games, Maleficent, Peter Pan, Signs, Snow Falling on Cedars and Snow White and the Huntsman.

David De Geest (1984) is Choir professor at the Brussels Conservatory and conductor of the symphonic orchestra Lumen Symphonicum. David graduated as Master in Music Theory with great distinction at the Ghent Conservatory. He specialized in conducting in Dresden, Nurnberg and Oxford. He conducted over 300 performances a.o. in Belgium (BOZAR Brussels), Italy (St. Peter’s Basilica), Mexico (CENART), South Korea (Seoul Arts Center, KBS Hall), Japan (Tokyo Cathedral). He was guest conductor of The Choir of New College Oxford, Dresdner Kreuzchor, Schola Cantorum Mexico, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Bulgaria and the Giovanile Arcantico Orchestra Milan.
